In Ukraine, the wife of a deceased pensioner can receive a survivor's pension if she meets the conditions set by law. This payment is granted for life or for the period of incapacity for work and is half of the deceased husband's pension.
According to the law "On Mandatory State Pension Insurance", women who have reached retirement age or are recognized as incapable of work are entitled to this pension. An important condition is cohabitation with their husband at the time of his death. If the wife has not yet reached retirement age, but is incapable of work, the payment is provided for the entire period of such incapacity for work. For those who have already reached retirement age, the pension is granted for life.
The amount of the payment is 50% of the pension that the spouse received or was entitled to receive. For example, if the deceased's pension was 6,850 hryvnias, the spouse will receive 3,425 hryvnias per month. Additionally, for persons over 75 years of age, a monthly supplement of 456 hryvnias is provided.
To apply for such a pension, you must contact the Pension Fund of Ukraine and provide supporting documents - a death certificate, documents proving cohabitation, and confirmation of age or disability.
This type of pension is an important support for older people who lose their main source of income and need stable assistance from the state.
