Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrsky spoke about the preparation and features of the operation in the Kursk region. According to him, a thorough analysis of previous offensive operations, in particular the Kharkiv operation of 2022, helped to effectively plan the new stage of hostilities.
Preparations for the operation were large-scale and based on the experience of previous hostilities. “We calculated different scenarios. There was a minimum and maximum task. We took into account the experience of the Kharkiv operation, because the terrain was similar,” said Syrsky.
Two days before the offensive began, the commander-in-chief visited the units on the front line, explained the tasks and wished the fighters success. At that time, the motivation of the Ukrainian military was at a very high level, which became a key factor in defeating the enemy.
Syrsky also emphasized the difficulties faced by the Ukrainian Armed Forces during the operation. Russian troops carefully prepared their territory for defense, building powerful defense lines, including minefields and well-fortified structures on key routes.
“The main directions available for the offensive were fortified down to the smallest detail. However, this did not become an insurmountable obstacle for our soldiers,” the general emphasized.
The Kursk operation became another example of how the Ukrainian military successfully combines experience, planning, and motivation to achieve strategic goals. According to Syrsky, each operation at the front provides new lessons that help the Armed Forces of Ukraine become even stronger.
