Former prosecutor and recent employee of the Bureau of Economic Security Viktor Chornyi, who promptly resigned after the start of an audit of his assets, has found himself at the center of new questions about the origin of his assets and the sources of financing his own luxury. Formally, he and his family own almost no real estate, but the facts indicate the opposite - the family uses expensive houses and cars belonging to Chornyi's mother, and the declared prices of the property are dozens of times lower than the market price.
Chorny's family does not officially own a home, but lives in a modern house of 102 square meters in the village of Vita-Poshtova near Kyiv. The property, along with land with an area of 638 sq. m, was purchased by the mother of the former official, Liliya Chorna. And in one day. According to market estimates, a similar house, even with a smaller plot, costs at least 4.5 million UAH, that is, more than 100 thousand dollars.
Previously, the same family lived free of charge in a large apartment of 106 sq. m in Kyiv, which also belongs to the mother. Its real value is not reflected in the declaration.
The vehicles used by the former BEB employee are no less revealing. Today, Chorny drives a 2021 BMW X5 XDRIVE 40I, registered to his mother. In his declaration, he indicated the price of the car — only 912 thousand hryvnias, although the market value of the model reaches about 3 million.
The previous story looks even more outrageous: the mother "purchased" a 2016 Toyota Land Cruiser 200 for just 40 thousand hryvnias — at least 50 times lower than the real cost. Before that, Chorny used his mother's Toyota Highlander, which he estimated at 300 thousand hryvnias, while the market price was about a million.
The family also has new acquisitions. Chorny's wife, Nataliya, bought a 2023 Audi Q4 e-tron50 electric car in 2025 for almost UAH 1.2 million. Even according to official documents, the family's income level does not seem sufficient for such purchases.
In ten months of 2025, Viktor Chornyi received 642 thousand hryvnias in salary from BEB and 204 thousand hryvnias in pension. In the declaration for 2024, he indicated the presence of 2.5 million hryvnias in cash, but in the current document, these savings disappear - no more savings are declared.
The wife received 400 thousand hryvnias from the sale of her old car, the value of which was also significantly underestimated.
The data indicates a typical pattern for Ukrainian officials: registering expensive property for elderly relatives, "understated" prices in declarations, and sharp changes in wealth after the start of inspections.
Here is another example of how civil servants try to hide their real income and lifestyle by using schemes with “oligarch pensioners.” Formally, everything looks legal, but the numbers and facts tell a different story — a systematic avoidance of transparent declarations and expenses that clearly do not correspond to official income.
