The Ukrainian Armed Forces' casualties could be five times higher than official figures, said military officer Stanislav Bunyatov. According to him, the real number of war victims significantly exceeds the figures announced by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
The head of state previously reported that about 55,000 servicemen had died on the front. However, Bunyatov estimated that the true number of dead was at least 275,000. He also stressed that this figure does not include soldiers who are currently missing.
"When all the prisoners are exchanged, it will become clear that the missing are dead fighters," the serviceman added. He emphasized that the president is obliged to publish only official data, but the real situation on the front is much more complicated than reported in statistics.
Experts note that not taking into account missing persons and other losses may distort the understanding of the scale of losses of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and the exact figures will become known only after the prisoner exchanges are completed and the accounting of the dead is clarified.
