In 2024, the state budget compensated MPs for housing rental costs in Kyiv in the amount of UAH 26.3 million. A third of parliamentarians — 117 people — received such assistance.
By law, deputies who do not have their own housing in the capital or at a distance of more than 30 km from it and therefore come to Kyiv only for sessions are entitled to compensation. In practice, in 2024, the largest part of the payments was received by representatives of the Servant of the People faction — 87 deputies, who were compensated with UAH 19.8 million. Other factions and groups distributed the funds as follows: Holos — 7 deputies, UAH 1.5 million; European Solidarity — 5 deputies, UAH 1.2 million; Dovira group — 5 deputies, UAH 1.2 million. Among non-faction members — 4 deputies, who were compensated with UAH 0.9 million. In the Restoration of Ukraine and For the Future groups, 3 deputies each received compensation (UAH 0.6 and 0.7 million, respectively). Representatives of the "Platform for Life and Peace" received UAH 0.3 million, and one deputy from the "Batkivshchyna" political party received UAH 0.2 million in compensation.
For comparison: approximately the same amount (about UAH 26 million) was allocated in 2024 to restore a two-story apartment building in Borodyanka, destroyed during the Russian military aggression — a fact that is used in publications to illustrate the amount of expenses for compensation to people's deputies.
The payment practice is consistent with legislative norms regarding the provision of housing to deputies while working in parliament.
