Ukrainian aviation services will need a month to prepare to start transporting passengers, provided that permission is obtained for flights. This statement was made by the head of the State Aviation Service of Ukraine, Oleksandr Bilchuk. According to him, airports in Kyiv and Lviv have managed to retain their staff, so it will take only three weeks to prepare to receive aircraft. Foreign low-cost carriers are already expressing their readiness to enter the Ukrainian market, but experts warn that the resumption of flights will be a big challenge. Many pilots working abroad may not return, and those who remain in Ukraine risk losing skills and qualifications due to the lack of flights.
Bilchuk stressed that a sales system and an airport audit are needed to resume commercial flights. He also warned of the decline of Ukrainian airlines, which are important to the country's economy, and called for reducing risks to an acceptable level in accordance with international standards before flights resume.
The State Aviation Service is conducting an airspace analysis to determine safe flight routes, as well as assessing airport security. The resumption of civil flights by Ukrainian airlines depends on several factors, including the security of airports from possible missile attacks, certification of airport infrastructure, insurance mechanisms, and the readiness of airlines to operate in high-risk conditions.
