Regular preventive check-ups with a family doctor help detect common diseases in time, improve the prognosis of treatment and prevent complications. The list of control conditions includes diabetes, HIV, tuberculosis, hypertension and other cardiovascular diseases, breast and prostate cancer, and colorectal cancer.
These diseases are often asymptomatic in the early stages. For example, 95% of women with breast cancer detected at stage I recover completely, and 25% of cases are diagnosed at stage III–IV. In men, 21% of prostate cancer cases are diagnosed at metastatic stages.
Recommendations for reviews:
-
Hypertension and cardiovascular disease: women over 50, men over 40; examination every year if there are risk factors, otherwise every 2 years.
-
Diabetes: every year after age 45, as well as everyone with risk factors, regardless of age.
-
HIV: everyone from 14 years old every year, especially people at increased risk.
-
Tuberculosis: if cough persists for more than 2 weeks and risk factors are present; schedule determined by doctor.
-
Breast cancer: mammography every 2 years for women aged 50–69, and for those at risk – from 40 years old.
-
Prostate cancer: men over 40, on the recommendation of a doctor - PSA test or examination by a urologist.
-
Colorectal cancer: everyone 50–75 years old, examination every 2 years, with risk factors – every year.
Regular preventive checkups help monitor your health and detect diseases in time, allowing you to live a calm and safe life.
