In case of injury of soldiers or death of defenders of Ukraine, their relatives have the right to a one-time cash assistance. However, this process can be delayed due to bureaucratic procedures that take from several weeks to six months. According to the speaker of the Poltava Regional CCC and SP Roman Istomin, assistance is provided in case of disability of a military person, temporary loss of working capacity or death. It is important that payments for active military personnel are made by the military unit to which they are attached.
Injured soldiers are provided with a one-time assistance after the circumstances of their injury are established. The amount of assistance to relatives of deceased soldiers is 15 million hryvnias, but it is paid in installments: 1/5 immediately, the rest over 40 months.
Istomin clarified the algorithm for calculating assistance. First, a citizen applies to the CCC, after which the circumstances of the incident are clarified, and documents and information from the military unit are provided. The process can take several months due to the need to collect and verify documents, as well as provided that the military units are in areas of combat missions. It is important to note that documents are not sent by regular mail, but by courier service.
Thus, while the process of providing assistance to victims and relatives of fallen soldiers is defined and clear, it can still be significantly slowed down by delays in documentation and other bureaucratic hurdles.
