Khrystyna Soloviy will answer for her words in court

After a concert in Chornomorsk, Ukrainian singer Khrystyna Soloviy found herself at the center of a scandal due to her use of obscene language. Several local residents filed a complaint with the police, accusing the singer of disturbing public order.

Serhiy Gnezdilov, cultural manager of the Vydelkafest festival, said that after Soloviy’s performance on July 26 in Chornomorsk, several spectators were unhappy with her use of obscene language. They contacted the police, which led to an administrative report being drawn up under Article 173 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of Ukraine – petty hooliganism.

According to this article, the singer may face a fine, community service, correctional labor with a deduction of 20% of earnings, or administrative arrest for up to 15 days. The final decision will be made by the court.

The irony is that the case will be heard by the Illichivsk City Court, which still retains its old name, even though the city has long since been renamed Chornomorsk. Police explained that the incident received significant publicity and some residents of the city demanded an apology. The festival organizers did apologize to them.

At first, the police wanted to file a report against the festival organizers, but they explained that the performer was responsible for the statements made on stage. Therefore, the police turned to Khrystyna Solovya for an explanation.

Gnezdilov noted that the Videlkafest festival is not against the use of obscene language, but believes that artists should warn the audience about it before the performance to give them the opportunity to remove children or those who do not want to listen to such language.

He also said that some members of the Chornomorsk city council approached the festival's executive director and threatened to stop the event if they did not receive an explanation as to why the festival was offending the city's residents. They explained to the members that the city has a different name and has long since ceased to be Illichivsk.

Ukrainian writer, human rights activist, and activist Anastasia Melnychenko, responding to the situation, emphasized the importance of supporting Ukrainian scientists and students abroad, emphasizing that such statements by officials degrade their dignity and work.

Khrystyna Soloviy also reacted to the incident on her social network X, joking about finding a copy of Ukrainian obscene language.

The incident occurred during the "Vydelkafest" festival, when the singer asked the audience during her performance if they liked the old name of the city, and then called it an obscene word.

Previously, Khrystyna Soloviy sang together with Iryna Bilyk, performing the song "And I'm Sailing in a Boat" during a concert in Kyiv.
