The National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) has put businessman Mykhailo Kiperman and two other individuals on the wanted list in connection with the case of the seizure of electricity from the state-owned enterprise Ukrenergo. According to law enforcement officials, the amount of losses in this case is over 716 million hryvnias.
According to NABU, Mykhailo Kiperman, who is considered a business partner of the famous Ukrainian businessman Ihor Kolomoisky , is suspected of misappropriation and embezzlement of property or taking possession of it through abuse of official position, as well as in legalization (laundering) of property obtained by criminal means. NABU considers him the organizer of the scheme. In addition, Dmytro Kondrashov and Yulia Frolova are wanted in this case on suspicion of abuse of official position.
The investigation showed that in March 2022, United Energy purchased electricity worth over UAH 716 million from businessman Mykhailo Kiperman, who is wanted by NABU. Despite the company's existing debt to Ukrenergo, the sale was not stopped. After that, the electricity was sold to real market participants, and the funds received were transferred to the accounts of a foreign company controlled by Kiperman.
NABU and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAP) have already declared suspicion against four individuals involved in this case. In addition, they managed to seize funds in the amount of over 700 million hryvnias in the accounts of companies involved in the scheme.
