Trust in the telethon continues to fall

Ukrainian citizens' trust in the telethon "United News" continues to decline. According to the latest survey data from the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology, only 36% of respondents believe the information coming from this marathon.

According to the results of the study, which lasted from February 5 to 10, it became known that in December 2023, 43% of respondents believed in the reliability of "United News", but in early February 2024 this figure decreased to 36%. Meanwhile, the share of those who do not trust this marathon has increased to 47%.

Sociologists note that the idea of “United News” initially had great support, but since 2023 there has been a steady decline in trust in this source of information. Even among supporters of President Volodymyr Zelensky, the telethon raises doubts: 48% trust it, but 33% do not.

Residents of the West and Center of the country were somewhat more critical of “United News”, but overall in all regions no more than 40% trust this source of information.

Anton Hrushetsky, Deputy Director of KIIS, points to recent changes in Ukraine's media landscape. According to him, with the spread of online sources of information, there has been a significant mixing of sources, and viewing of "United News" has become less popular.

The negative dynamics of trust in “United News” indicates the need to revise the format of the telethon to make it more relevant to the current situation in Ukraine. There is room for solutions that will satisfy the public and help restore trust in this media resource.
