Over the past day, Ukrainian forces have struck a powerful strike on the arsenal of the Main Missile and Artillery Directorate of the Russian Ministry of Defense (GRAU) near the city of Toropets in the Tver region. The attack started a fire, which led to a series of explosions and a local earthquake, which was reported by local residents.
According to the Defense Express , the attack caused a significant resonance, and several assumptions were made about the weapons that the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) could have used. Initially, there were assumptions that the warehouse was used by attack drones of the “Palyanytsia” type. However, analysts suggest other options, given the scale of the destruction.
Experts believe that to achieve such large-scale damage, the Ukrainian Armed Forces either used a large number of drones or used more powerful missile weapons, in particular the modernized Neptune missile system. The footage after the explosion shows a large-scale fire, which, according to experts, is unlikely to be the result of only falling fragments of the drone. This indicates a powerful strike with high-precision weapons.
The destruction of the arsenal is a serious blow to Russian logistics. According to preliminary estimates, the warehouse housed at least 60-70 ammunition storage facilities, which stored missiles for the Iskander, Tochka-U, KABs and other artillery ammunition. The explosions were so powerful that they caused a local earthquake, but, fortunately, there were no known cases of radiation leakage that could indicate the presence of nuclear weapons.
According to analysts, strikes on Russian rear logistics facilities, such as the Toropets arsenal, could significantly affect the overall picture of the fighting, depriving Russian troops of a significant amount of ammunition. This could significantly limit their offensive capabilities at the front and change the dynamics of the fighting.
