Ukrainian singer Tonya Matvienko has been accused of illegally performing songs written for her mother, the legendary Nina Matvienko, composer Yevhen Rybchinsky said in an interview that caused a stir online.
According to him, Tonya performs works by the late composer Igor Poklad, in particular "Oh, the Wild Geese Were Flying", but allegedly never took part in concerts in memory of the artist.
" This is called using a "layer". This is not done. Poklad's wife, Svitlana, is his heir. And she is preparing a lawsuit. She says: "Tonya has never honored Igor at concerts, but she travels and sings his songs ," Rybchinsky emphasized.
He also added that he himself is ready to help resolve issues with the copyrights of other compositions used by Matvienko.
In the comments under the interview, hundreds of Ukrainians expressed support for the position of the composer and Poklad's widow, emphasizing that copyright must be respected.
