IKEA stores may open in Ukraine as early as 2025. The official opening date will be announced later, but according to the operations director of Lavina Mall and Blockbuster Mall, Dmitry Lashin, the opening is planned for this year, and there is “very encouraging information” about this.
Lashin noted that there are two scenarios for opening IKEA stores in Ukraine: if the fighting stops, the opening could happen quickly. If the fighting continues, it will take more time, but, he said, the physical opening of the stores is already ready. The retailer is actively conducting renovations, including cleaning, repairs, replacing signs and removing old goods.
IKEA, a Swedish multinational corporation known for its ready-to-assemble furniture and other home goods, was founded in 1943 by Ingvar Kamprad. As of 2021, the company had over 420 stores in 50 countries around the world. After the war in Ukraine broke out, IKEA suspended operations in Russia and Belarus and announced a donation of 20 million euros to humanitarian aid.
At the same time, a fake IKEA was opened in Russia, where you can find goods that are likely produced at CIS enterprises.
