The Chernihiv Regional Prosecutor's Office announced the opening of a trial against a prisoner of the Chernihiv Pre-trial Detention Center who was engaged in the illegal sale of weapons and ammunition.
According to the investigation, the man was serving a sentence for theft and robbery, but remotely organized the sale of an AKMS assault rifle, 30 live cartridges with steel cores, and components for a hand-held F-1 fragmentation grenade and a remote-controlled RGD-5 grenade.
He purchased the weapons and ammunition before his imprisonment and buried them under a tree in a forest near Chernihiv for "safe" storage. After receiving money on controlled bank cards, the accused provided the buyer with the exact coordinates of the "hidden cache."
During a search of his cell in the pre-trial detention center, a mobile phone, SIM cards, and a notebook with "draft notes" confirming his illegal activities were seized.
The sanction of the article provides for a penalty of imprisonment for a term of three to seven years.
