A terrible tragedy occurred in the village of Monachynivka, Kupyansky District, Kharkiv Region, due to a strike by Russian troops with one of the most powerful FAB-1500 bombs, the head of the Investigative Department of the Kharkiv Region Police, Serhiy Bolvinov, reported in his Facebook post.
“The explosion caused an earthquake-like sensation and destroyed an entire street. The villagers witnessed a terrible blow – a high-explosive aerial bomb weighing more than one and a half tons was dropped on their homes and streets by the enemy,” the report said.
Bolvinov stressed that there were few residents left in the village, and no military personnel. Russian troops used “a special module to ensure the bomb glides in the air after it is released from the plane.”.
“This weapon of incredible power was used against us for the first time. Its consequences were devastating, the houses of the villagers were destroyed and an 88-year-old woman was killed. Her body was pulled from under the rubble after the explosion,” the head of the Investigative Department emphasized.
Despite the horrific attack, the residents of Monachynivka immediately sought help from the police. The strike with a FAB-1500 bomb with an UMPK module was carried out by Russian troops on Easter Sunday, May 5, at around 3:20 p.m. The shelling damaged 16 houses, and the body of an 88-year-old woman was pulled from under the rubble, and a 34-year-old man was also injured.
