In December 2024, 1,290 new cases of tuberculosis were registered in Ukraine

In December 2024, 1,290 cases of tuberculosis were registered in Ukraine, of which 998 were new. During the same period, 1,196 patients were successfully cured of the disease. This was reported by the Center for Public Health of the Ministry of Health.

According to the Center, among the registered cases were 236 patients with relapsed disease and 56 people who resumed treatment or had an unknown history of previous treatment. 216 people were diagnosed with drug-resistant tuberculosis.

Of the total number of patients, 1,217 patients had pulmonary tuberculosis, and 73 had extrapulmonary tuberculosis. Among the patients, 998 were men and 292 were women. Also, 189 patients had HIV-positive status.

These data demonstrate the importance of timely diagnosis and treatment of tuberculosis, because despite the increase in new cases, a significant number of patients were able to completely overcome the disease.
