Verbytskyi's case
"Schem" journalists found out that Deputy Prosecutor General Dmytro Verbytsky settled in a house in the capital's elite cottage town "Konyk", which his nephew bought by proxy from an Odessa businessman for more than 2 million hryvnias, which, according to market prices, is 6 times undervalued.
"Schemes" also claim that since May 2024, Khrystyna Ilnytska, with whom Verbytsky is allegedly in a relationship, became the owner of one of the neighboring estates on the banks of the Konyk River. The approximate market value of such real estate reaches 48 million hryvnias, although the contract of sale of the house indicates that the woman paid about 2 million hryvnias for it.
The official himself denied that he helped Ilnytskyi with the acquisition of property.
In addition, journalists discovered that a few months before that, the woman had purchased a 2023 Porsche Macan T car worth $100,000. At the same time, Ilnytska's own total income, reported to the state for the last decade, amounts to slightly more than 360 thousand hryvnias.
Verbytskyi is the deputy prosecutor general, who is, in particular, responsible for issues related to combating economic crimes, tax evasion, and investment protection.
After the journalists' investigation, an official investigation was launched against Verbytskyi, the National Agency for the Prevention of Corruption is conducting an audit of Verbytskyi's lifestyle, and the National Anti-Corruption Bureau opened criminal proceedings regarding his possible illegal enrichment.
Parliamentarians summoned Prosecutor General Andrii Kostin to the Verkhovna Rada for a report on the property of his deputy. However, Kostin did not come, explaining that an official inspection was currently underway, and therefore proposed to postpone the discussion.
Subsequently, Verbytskyi wrote a resignation letter to avoid a negative impact on the work of the Prosecutor General's Office. Prosecutor General Andriy Kostin signed the order for his release on July 1.
