A tragedy has occurred in Germany: two Ukrainian basketball players were attacked because of their nationality. According to the Kyiv Basketball Federation, 17-year-old Volodymyr Yermakov was stabbed to death on Saturday evening in Germany.
Yermakov, along with his friend, Artem Kozachenko, played for the youth team “ART Giants” (U-19) in Düsseldorf. On the eve of the expected match, they were attacked with knives in the street simply because of their Ukrainian origin. Both boys were hospitalized, but Volodymyr could not be saved, and his friend remains in intensive care.
Local police are investigating the horrific incident, and witnesses have already come forward. Social media is also actively discussing the attack, indicating that the attackers were of Arab nationality.
