The heads of a charitable organization have reported suspicions of bribery. The woman promised to help a serviceman obtain disability status for $4,700, despite the lack of medical grounds, the Prosecutor General's Office reported.
The investigation established that the head of the charitable organization offered the military services in organizing hospitalization, issuing medical referrals, establishing the "necessary" diagnosis and, as a result, dismissal from service due to health reasons. The woman convinced that she had influence over officials in Kharkiv medical institutions and could "resolve the issue" without undergoing real examinations.
For $4,700, she undertook to guide the client through all the stages of the fictitious "treatment" - she personally accompanied the soldier, organized doctor's appointments, made phone calls to medical professionals, and documents were issued without examinations and tests. The suspect was even present during the medical examinations, monitoring the progress of the paperwork.
The woman was detained under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. She is charged with Part 3 of Article 369-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine - obtaining unlawful benefit for herself or third parties for influencing decision-making by officials.
The issue of choosing a preventive measure for her is currently being decided. The investigation is also identifying possible accomplices among the medical staff who could have participated in the corruption scheme.
