A fraudulent mobilization evasion scheme organized by a 61-year-old Lviv resident and a local obstetrician was exposed in Kharkiv. They attempted to illegally register a 31-year-old man as a father of many children in order to grant him the right to deferment from military service.
According to the press service of the Prosecutor General's Office, the women planned to falsify documents to help their husband avoid mobilization. Since he had two children, and three were needed for a deferment, the Lviv woman turned to a doctor she knew with a request to find a pregnant woman who would agree to indicate him as the father of her child.
The doctor found such a candidate and offered her a financial reward. In December 2024, the Lviv woman personally gave the woman $400 as an advance and promised further payments until the child turned three. She also transferred an additional 4,200 hryvnias.
In February 2025, the woman gave birth to a boy, after which the Lviv woman arrived in Kharkiv with a notarized statement from her son acknowledging paternity and a power of attorney. She submitted documents to the local ASN, where she was detained by law enforcement officers.
The court chose a preventive measure for the suspect in the form of detention without the right to post bail. Soon, the doctor was also exposed, for whom a preventive measure is also being prepared.
The pre-trial investigation is being conducted by the Special Investigation Unit No. 1 of the Main Police Department in Kharkiv region. Operational support is provided by the State Border Guard Service and the Military Counterintelligence of the SBU. Both women are charged under Part 1 of Article 114-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (obstructing the lawful activities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and other military formations during a special period).
