In Khmelnytskyi region, law enforcement officers have dismantled a channel for the illegal smuggling of men of military age across the state border. According to investigators, the perpetrators were producing forged documents that allegedly gave them the right to travel outside Ukraine. This was reported by the Cyber Police.
It was established that residents of Khmelnytskyi had set up an underground printing house in a non-residential building. Using special equipment and software, they produced fake IDs, seals, and stamps.
Clients were found via the Internet. The organizers offered conscripts fake pension certificates with disability records that allowed them to cross the border without hindrance.
Police conducted 32 searches in Khmelnytskyi and Vinnytsia regions, as well as at a checkpoint. One of the men was detained while attempting to leave Ukraine with forged documents. The court placed him, a 22-year-old resident of the region, under house arrest.
A 53-year-old member of the group was also detained and placed in custody as a preventive measure. Another 43-year-old was reported in absentia as a suspect.
The pre-trial investigation is ongoing under Articles 332 and 358 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The suspects face up to 9 years in prison with confiscation of property. Law enforcement officers are identifying other people involved.
