In Kyiv, suspicion was reported to the head of a division of the Kyivteplokomunenergo KP in connection with an incident that occurred on January 2 on Lobanovsky Avenue. During the rupture of a central heating pipe, an unfenced pit with boiling water formed on the sidewalk. As a result, a 16-year-old girl fell into the danger zone and received burns to 73% of her body.
The man is suspected of violating safety rules while performing work with increased danger, which caused serious consequences, under Part 2 of Article 272 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for up to 8 years of imprisonment. The suspect was detained in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine, and a petition for the selection of a preventive measure in the form of detention was sent to the court.
According to regulatory documents, the accident site must be equipped with reliable fencing, warning signs and, if necessary, emergency lighting. However, the work manager did not ensure timely fencing of the entire dangerous area, which caused serious injuries to the minor.
The girl, in a medically induced coma, was transported to Germany for treatment. The pre-trial investigation is ongoing, and other individuals whose inaction could have led to the victim's injuries are being identified.
