Two criminals were exposed in the capital who demanded $500,000 for "help" in obtaining a management position at one of the state-owned enterprises of the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences of Ukraine, Kyiv police reported.
According to the investigation, the suspects assured the potential candidate that they had influence over the leadership of the NAAS of Ukraine and could help him get appointed to a high position. They demanded half a million US dollars for their "services."
During the meeting with the victim, the fraudsters promised a quick resolution to the issue after receiving the money. Law enforcement officers detained the suspects just as they were transferring the funds.
