In Kropyvnytskyi, law enforcement officers detained a man suspected of preparing sabotage at an energy infrastructure facility. According to the Security Service of Ukraine, he acted on the instructions of Russian special services.
The suspect was detained during curfew while retrieving an improvised explosive device from a hiding place at the entrance to the city.
According to the SBU, the explosive was equipped with a plastid weighing about 300 grams and equipped with a mobile phone for remote activation.
According to the plan, the suspect was to transport the device in a taxi and plant it near the transformers of the main electrical substation. This facility provides power to key institutions in the city, so its detonation could have serious consequences for the infrastructure.
The investigation established that the perpetrator was a local unemployed man. He was recruited through Telegram channels, promising quick earnings. After that, he received the coordinates of the cache and further instructions from FSB representatives.
The detainee has already been informed of suspicion under the article on treason under martial law. Law enforcement officers are also considering the possibility of additional qualification for preparing sabotage.
The man is currently being held without bail. If convicted, he faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
