On Tuesday, January 20, in Lviv, a 21-year-old man stabbed his neighbor to death and tried to hide from police in the basement by climbing onto pipes under the ceiling. This was reported by the Lviv Region Patrol Police.
According to law enforcement officials, medics informed the police that a 41-year-old woman had been stabbed in the stomach on Stryyska Street. Inspectors from the tactical and operational response company and other patrol police crews immediately began searching for the suspect.
The man, a neighbor of the victim, was found in the basement. He was hiding on the heating pipes under the ceiling and had a knife with him, which he said he had cleaned of blood in the snow. Investigators were working at the scene.
The injured woman was hospitalized in serious condition, but doctors were unable to save her life.
The attacker has been detained. He faces liability under Part 1 of Article 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (Murder). Law enforcement officers are currently establishing all the circumstances of the incident, and a pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
