A serious accident involving an electric scooter occurred in the Sykhiv neighborhood of Lviv. On June 14, a 16-year-old boy crashed into a Volkswagen e-Golf and suffered a serious leg injury.
According to the Civil Protection Department of the Lviv Regional Emergency Management Agency, the accident occurred at around 4:00 p.m. at 36 Chervonoy Kalyna Avenue.
According to preliminary information, a minor from Lviv, born in 2009, while riding a Bolt electric scooter, collided with a car driven by a resident of Bibrka, born in 1982.
As a result of the impact, the teenager suffered an open fracture of his shin. He was urgently hospitalized at St. Nicholas Hospital.
Law enforcement officers were at the scene. All circumstances of the accident, including compliance with traffic rules, are being investigated.
This incident once again raises the issue of the safety of using electric scooters in urban areas. With the onset of the warm season, the number of such accidents is increasing, particularly involving minors.
