In the Lviv region, police detained a 45-year-old man for illegally possessing a grenade with a detonator. The incident occurred on October 3, when law enforcement officers received a report that the man had brought an object resembling a grenade to a grocery store.
During negotiations, special forces convinced the serviceman, who is in the status of a non-combatant, to leave the house and hand over the ammunition to them. The seized grenade was sent for expert examination to establish all the details.
The suspect was detained in accordance with Art. 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. Investigators informed him of suspicion under Part 1 of Art. 263 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine - illegal handling of weapons, ammunition or explosives. The sanction of the article provides for imprisonment for a term of three to seven years.
The pre-trial investigation is ongoing, and law enforcement officers are investigating the origin of the grenade and the circumstances of its illegal storage.
