A man was detained in Lviv who organized a scheme to obtain illegal benefits from a 33-year-old applicant to one of the local universities.
According to the Lviv Regional Prosecutor's Office, he demanded $1,100, promising to influence university officials to enroll the applicant. At the same time, he assured that if the funds were refused, he would create obstacles to admission.
Law enforcement officers detained the man while receiving the second part of the agreed amount — $600.
He has already been informed of suspicion of obtaining an unlawful benefit for himself by influencing a decision-making process by a person authorized to perform state functions, combined with the extortion of such benefit. The issue of choosing a preventive measure is currently being decided.
The investigation is identifying other individuals who may be involved in this scheme.
