March is traditionally a month of winter's struggle with spring, but already in April the temperature begins to rise rapidly to +15…+20°C. In May, Ukraine switches to summer mode, when thermometers can rise to +30…+35°C. This was stated by the head of the meteorological forecast department of the Ukrhydrometeorological Center, Natalia Golenya.
According to her, although such temperatures are not the norm for every year, absolute maximums in May can reach even +37°C, especially in the southern regions.
As for precipitation, March 2025, like February, will be dry. However, the situation is expected to change in April and May - atmospheric processes from the Atlantic will bring more precipitation.
Forecasting frosts in advance remains a difficult task, but experts note that cold periods in April and May are a common occurrence for Ukraine. Especially in the second half of April, invasions of Arctic air are possible, which will cause a short-term decrease in temperature.
According to the forecast of the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center, the average temperature in March this year will be 1-2°C higher than normal – from +1°C to +7°C. The expected amount of precipitation will be from 30 to 60 mm, and in the Carpathians – from 71 to 107 mm, which corresponds to the average values for this month.
Spring promises to be warm, but not without weather surprises.
