Employees of the State Bureau of Investigation detained an employee of the Mykolaiv District CCC and SP, who, together with an accomplice, extorted money from relatives of conscripts who were sent to check their military registration documents. This was reported by the press service of the State Bureau of Investigation.
The criminals promised the relatives of the mobilized men to “resolve the issue” and release the men from mobilization. For this, they demanded a significant amount of money, namely 4.5 thousand US dollars. The CCC employee and his accomplice intended to influence CCC officials so that the mobilized men could avoid being sent to service.
The criminal group was detained on February 13, when they received money from the relatives of a mobilized man. As it turned out, the family of the man, who had already joined the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, learned about the extortion only after the perpetrators were detained.
The detainees are charged under Article 369-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine - receiving unlawful benefit for influencing a decision by a person authorized to perform state functions. The court will soon choose a preventive measure for them, and they face up to eight years in prison.
The investigation is ongoing, and law enforcement is identifying all individuals involved in this corruption scheme.
