In Odessa, law enforcement officers exposed an employee of the territorial recruitment center (TCC) who promised to remove conscripts from the wanted list in exchange for a bribe. He was detained while receiving $500.
This was reported by the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Odessa region.
Investigators found that a 29-year-old soldier from one of the Odessa district recruitment centers was spreading information among acquaintances about the possibility of influencing officials of the RTCC and SP, helping conscripts avoid mobilization for a monetary reward.
Law enforcement officers documented how a military man promised to remove the “wanted” status from two men. The service cost an Odessa resident $500, and a resident of the region twice as much.
Police detained the suspect while accepting a bribe. Money, phone, and documents were seized.
He was informed of suspicion under Part 3 of Article 369-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, namely: obtaining an unlawful benefit for himself for influencing a decision-making process by a person authorized to perform state functions, combined with extortion of an unlawful benefit.
The court chose a preventive measure for him - detention with the possibility of bail of 242,240 hryvnias.
The defendant faces up to eight years in prison with confiscation of property.
