In Odessa, law enforcement officers prevented an attempted terrorist attack near the regional Territorial Center for Recruiting and Social Support. In June of this year, a woman from Volyn was detained on Kulykove Pole Square, carrying an improvised explosive device to the TCC.
According to the investigation, the organizer of the crime was a local resident, acting on the instructions of Russian curators. He made an explosive device filled with 200 metal nuts to maximize the number of victims. The bomb was supposed to be triggered by a phone call.
After making it, the man hid the device in a cache on Chornomorska Street. In July, a woman from the Volyn region came to pick him up. She took out the explosives and put them in a backpack, intending to take them to the CCC building on Kanatna Street.
However, law enforcement officers tracked the attacker's movements and detained her at Kulikovo Field. They managed to defuse the explosive device.
The Odesa Regional Prosecutor's Office reported that both suspects were charged with attempted terrorist acts committed in a preliminary conspiracy. By court decision, they are in custody. The investigation is being conducted by the Security Service of Ukraine.
