The number of marriages between Ukrainians and Poles is rapidly increasing in Poland

Ukrainian women who left for Poland due to war and economic changes are increasingly creating families with citizens of this country. According to the Main Statistical Office of Poland, in 2024 alone, 2,021 marriages between Ukrainian women and Polish men were registered. For comparison, Ukrainian men married Polish women 535 times. This difference indicates a clear trend - it is Ukrainian women who are increasingly staying and integrating into Polish society.

The dynamics of the growth of interethnic marriages is noticeable. If in 2015 there were only 715 such unions, then after the start of the full-scale war the numbers increased almost threefold. In 2023, the number of mixed marriages was 2213. Some Ukrainian women find in Poland not only shelter, but also a new personal life, stability and prospects.

Interestingly, against the background of the growth of marriages abroad, Ukraine records almost equal numbers of marriages and divorces. In 2024, 150.2 thousand marriages and 141.8 thousand divorces were registered. Such statistics may indicate a crisis in family relations, which was exacerbated by war, separations, economic difficulties, and long stays of partners in different countries.

At the same time, the state is simplifying divorce procedures. The service "Diya" will soon launch an online divorce option, which will allow couples to formalize a separation without visiting a court or registry office. This digital innovation could further affect the dynamics of relationships, as it will make the process faster and more accessible.

Ukrainian women in Europe are building new lives, while Ukrainian families at home face new challenges. The contrast between marriages abroad and divorces in Ukraine demonstrates the profound social changes that society experiences during the war.
