Another political scandal broke out in Poltava: the city's territorial election commission registered Vyacheslav Tyutyunnyk as a deputy from the Servant of the People party, who left Ukraine for the United States through the Shlyakh system in 2022 and has not returned since then.
According to local sources, Tyutiunnyk took advantage of the opportunity to leave during martial law and settled in the United States. At the same time, he did not submit a mandate, and the Servant of the People party tried for two years to introduce him to the Poltava City Council.
Previously, these attempts were unsuccessful - the election commission did not have enough votes to make a decision on his registration. However, recently the situation changed: the TEC unexpectedly voted to include Tyutiunnyk in the council.
It is noteworthy that he submitted the application for registration remotely — simply from the United States, certifying it with an electronic signature. This caused a wave of indignation among local activists and some deputies, who consider the situation to be legal nonsense.
Poltava public organizations are already demanding a review of the legality of such a decision, because a deputy who actually lives abroad cannot fulfill his representative duties.
Lawyers emphasize that the legislation does not provide a mechanism for registering a deputy who is permanently outside Ukraine during martial law.
