Ivano-Frankivsk regional police are searching for unknown individuals who committed a series of attacks, mainly on elderly and middle-aged men in the city of Ivano-Frankivsk. The criminals recorded their crimes on video and posted them on social media.
According to the Prykarpattia police, the video footage shows unknown individuals attacking residents of Ivano-Frankivsk, including the elderly. In the video, the criminals inflict physical injuries on passersby and use gas canisters.
Several media outlets have already released videos circulating on social media showing two or three attackers, usually from behind, attacking elderly women and men walking peacefully on the street or in a park. The attackers knock them down, pour gas in their eyes, and continue to beat them.
The police have opened criminal proceedings under Article 296, Part 4 (hooliganism) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. However, none of the victims have contacted law enforcement so far. The police are calling on the public to help identify the attackers.
