Illegal cutting down of green spaces has been recorded again in the center of the capital. This time, workers of Kyivzelenbud destroyed healthy trees in Volodymyrska Gorka Park, a monument of landscape architecture.
This was reported by monument keeper Dmytro Perov, who published a photo from the scene. According to him, the situation shows that, despite public statements by the city authorities and Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko's support for the petition to liquidate Kyivzelenbud, the practice of groundless logging continues.
"The Kyivzelenbud joint-stock company destroyed another healthy tree on Volodymyrska Hill. Despite Klitschko's alleged support for the petition to liquidate Kyivzelenrub, in fact nothing has changed - utility workers continue to cut down trees in green areas of Kyiv," Perov emphasized.
The activist recalled that Volodymyrska Gorka was founded in the 1830s and is one of the oldest parks in Kyiv. It has the status of a monument of landscape architecture and belongs to the category of especially valuable lands. Cutting down trees in such areas is expressly prohibited by law, and any intervention must be strictly regulated.
Despite this, Kyiv residents have repeatedly recorded cases where healthy trees are destroyed under the pretext of "sanitary works." Activists demand that the authorities transparently monitor the activities of Kyivzelenbud and bring those responsible to justice.
