In the mountainous area of Romania, rescuers found and evacuated two Ukrainian citizens who got lost after illegally crossing the state border through the Carpathians.
This was reported by Transcarpathian journalist Vitaliy Glagola. According to him, the men spent several days in the mountains without proper equipment and protection from the weather.
After crossing the border, they spent several cold nights in the open. The snow and precipitation soaked their clothes, causing severe hypothermia. The exhaustion was so severe that the men could barely move on their own.
Romanian mountain rescuers organized a search operation that lasted more than three hours. In difficult weather conditions, specialists reached the victims, provided first aid, and evacuated them from the dangerous area.
After descending from the mountains, the men were handed over to doctors for examination and treatment. According to preliminary information, they will remain in Romania.
The circumstances of the incident and the reasons that prompted the men to cross the border in the mountainous area are being investigated.
