In the Khmelnytskyi region, law enforcement officers have detained a 38-year-old man suspected of murdering his own mother. The regional police reported the incident.
The tragedy occurred in the village of Klinyny, where a 60-year-old local resident was killed. Her son was immediately suspected of committing the crime.
After the crime, the man left the scene and hid in the forest for almost a day. Police officers investigated all possible locations of his whereabouts and eventually detained him near a settlement.
A criminal case has been opened under Article 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine for intentional murder. Law enforcement officers have ordered a number of examinations, including psychological and psychiatric ones, to determine whether the suspect was aware of his actions at the time of the crime.
The investigation is ongoing. If the man is found guilty, he faces up to 15 years in prison or life imprisonment.
