In the village of Iza, Zakarpattia Oblast, border guards and investigators detained a local resident who promised to organize an illegal border crossing for a man who was conscripted for military service for 13,000 US dollars. The Western Regional Department of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine reported this.
According to the investigation, the offender offered the client a “safe route” through the mountainous section of the Ukrainian-Romanian border. He was detained immediately after receiving the entire amount of the illegal gain — just on the outskirts of the village of Iza.
The case is being investigated under Part 3 of Article 332 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine - illegal smuggling of persons across the state border, committed for selfish motives. The man has already been notified of the suspicion.
If he is proven guilty in court, he faces imprisonment for a term of 7 to 9 years with confiscation of property.
Law enforcement officers once again remind us: attempts to illegally leave the territory of Ukraine under martial law are a criminal offense for both those who flee and those who assist them in this.
