Alimony debts have increased significantly in Ukraine

Since the beginning of the full-scale war, alimony debts in Ukraine have increased significantly. According to Opendatabot, the number of proceedings against alimony debtors has increased by 14% since the beginning of the war. As of early August 2024, almost 190 thousand proceedings were recorded in the Unified Register of Debtors.

Since the beginning of 2024, 2.8 thousand new proceedings for alimony debts have been added in Ukraine. The total number of such proceedings as of the beginning of August of this year is 187,246. Over more than two years of full-scale war, the Register has been replenished with 23,376 proceedings. Almost 3 thousand new proceedings have been opened since the beginning of the year.

The vast majority of alimony debtors are men. According to the data, 91% of all proceedings concern men, while women account for only 9% of arrears.

Since 2021, the Dnipro region has ranked first in terms of the number of proceedings over alimony debts. This region has consistently led in this indicator, which indicates serious problems with the fulfillment of alimony obligations in this region.
