Salaries have increased in Ukraine: where do they pay more?

According to the results of the study by the portal “OLX Robota”, the labor market in Ukraine in 2024 demonstrates noticeable changes, which are reflected in the number of vacancies and the level of salaries. Compared to 2023, the number of vacancies on the platform increased by 6%, and the average salary rose by 12.5%. However, the situation on the labor market varies significantly among large cities, which indicates changes in local markets.

In Lviv, despite the overall growth of vacancies in the country, there is a decrease in their number by 10%. This is accompanied by an increase in the number of searcher responses by 11%. In Kyiv, on the contrary, the demand for vacancies increased by 19%, but the number of responses decreased by 6%. In Dnipro, a more stable situation is observed: here the number of vacancies increased by 6%, and responses by 8%.

One of the most noticeable trends has been the increase in demand for remote work. The number of ads offering remote work has increased by 31%, indicating the spread of such opportunities in the labor market. The median salary for remote workers has also increased by 16%, reaching UAH 19,100.

According to the study, the highest demand among job seekers in 2024 is observed for such professions as online store manager, production packer, copywriter, order picker and janitor. This reflects changes in the structure of the labor market, where certain professions are becoming more popular due to changes in the economy and consumer trends.

Employers are having the greatest difficulty filling vacancies for auditors, pharmacists, auto electricians, designers, and dentists. Demand for these professions has remained consistently high, but the relevant specialists still cannot always meet the market needs.

The average median salary in Ukraine at the end of 2024 reached UAH 20,000, which is 12.5% more compared to 2023. At the same time, according to the State Statistics Service, annual inflation in Ukraine was 11.2%, which shows that salary growth, although positive, does not always keep up with the pace of price increases for goods and services.

Trends among professions: who earns more and who earns less?

Among the professions with the highest salary growth, designers (+64%), SMM managers (+62%), computer repairmen (+56%), electricians (+50%) and installers (+48%) are the best performers. At the same time, salary decreases are observed among facade workers (-10%), security guards (-8%), tutors (-5%), furniture assemblers (-4%) and straighteners (-4%).

The labor market in Ukraine continues to change every year, and 2024 was no exception. The growth of salaries by 12.5% indicates an improvement in the economic situation, but the diversity of demand for professions and instability in large cities indicate the need to adapt to new conditions. Next year, we can expect further development of remote work, as well as the adaptation of professions to new economic and technological realities.
