Ukraine to tighten power outage schedules

Freezing weather, drone attacks, and the effects of bad weather have once again created serious challenges for Ukraine's energy system. Due to the drop in temperatures, electricity consumption in the country has increased by 5%, and emergency and hourly outages have been introduced in some regions.

As of the morning of November 26, electricity consumption had increased by 5% compared to the previous day. The freezing weather that persists in most regions was the main reason for this increase.

The daily maximum consumption the day before increased by 9.4% compared to the previous working day.

Due to a power shortage in the power system, hourly outage schedules are in effect in all regions:

  • Morning period : from 7:00 to 10:00
  • Evening period : from 2:00 PM to 9:00 PM

Ukrenergo urges consumers to limit the use of powerful electrical appliances at the same time after power supply is restored.

Emergency power outages were imposed in Ternopil region due to a massive drone attack overnight. The previous schedules are currently not in effect, and energy workers are working to restore power.

Difficult weather conditions left 38 settlements without electricity:

  • 35 – in Chernihiv region
  • 3 – in Sumy region

Emergency recovery work is ongoing.

Ukraine continues to import electricity from neighboring countries: Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Hungary, and Moldova. The total volume of imports is 7,197 MWh, with a maximum capacity of up to 684 MW in certain hours.
