A scheme to embezzle budget funds during road repairs has been uncovered in Vinnytsia Oblast. A local businesswoman and her accomplice are under suspicion.
According to the regional prosecutor's office, at the end of 2022 they signed a contract with the Orativ Village Council for the overhaul of a rural road. In reality, the work was only partially completed, creating the appearance of a complete repair.
The entrepreneur received almost 1.5 million hryvnias using fictitious documents. However, the examination showed that the discrepancy between the volume and quality of work amounted to more than 1 million hryvnias. As a result, the community suffered significant losses.
Prosecutors have already filed a motion with the court to have the suspects placed in custody as a preventive measure. The investigation is also identifying other individuals who may have been involved in the transaction.
