Employees of the State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) reported suspicions to the former head of one of the departments of the Main Department of the State Tax Service (GU DPS) in the Zhytomyr region, who, according to the investigation, had been illegally receiving wages for two years, almost never showing up for work.
As noted by the publication "Law and Business", the tax officer signed a contract with the voluntary formation of the Dnipro Urban Territorial Community in June 2022, but did not actually start service.
Taking advantage of his formal status, the tax officer was relieved of his duties and stayed home. Despite his absence from work, he continued to receive his salary, the total amount of which during this time reached about 700 thousand hryvnias.
The official was dismissed from his position and is currently charged with taking someone else's property by fraud under martial law, which is classified under Part 4 of Article 190 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of this article provides for imprisonment for a term of up to 8 years.
The investigation is also considering the possible involvement of other officials of the State Tax Service, who for two years did not verify the suspect's actual service in a volunteer formation, which allowed him to receive a salary without performing official duties.
