In the information received on Sunday, it is reported about the tragic events at the "Mercury" market in Donetsk. According to the occupation authorities, 27 people died and at least 25 were injured as a result of the series of explosions.
The Moscow administration, which is considered to have been appointed by Russia, claims that the market became the target of artillery fire, leaving Ukraine to blame for the incident.
The Ukrainian army denies responsibility for the attack, saying that it did not carry out any military operations in this direction.
The "Mercury" market is located on the southwestern outskirts of Donetsk, a short distance from the front line, which makes this incident particularly tense in the relations between the conflicting parties.
According to the information of the leader of the self-proclaimed "Donetsk People's Republic" (DPR) Denys Pushylin, the fourth quarter of Donetsk was hit by a combined 152 mm and 155 mm barrel artillery attack, as noted, from the directions of Kurakhiv and Krasnohoriv.
It is reported that two children died among the victims and two children among the wounded. According to Pushylin, among the victims there are persons with serious injuries in the area of vital organs and cases of traumatic amputation of limbs.
Photos show broken shop windows and bodies in the streets. According to AFP, local resident Tetiana told local media that she heard a shell overhead and hid under a counter, watching the chaos and panic around her. 
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia considers the events to be a "barbaric terrorist act against the peaceful people of Russia" by the Ukrainian military. According to their statements, Ukrainian security forces used "weapons provided by the West".
The Ukrainian military has issued a statement denying involvement in the shooting at the market in Donetsk.
