In the Kazankivska Correctional Colony No. 93 in the Mykolaiv region, the State Bureau of Investigation (SBI), together with the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) and the leadership of the State Criminal Investigation and Prevention Service (SKVS), uncovered a drug supply channel involving an employee of the institution. According to the investigation, the prisoners were in contact with the suppliers through the colony's supervision and security inspector.
The convicts ordered drugs and indicated their supervisor as the recipient of the shipment. The inspector, having received the package, would carry it to the colony territory, where the customers would pay him for the service.
On October 3, 2025, law enforcement officers prevented another drug supply. During an inspection by the colony's internal control, a parcel with prohibited substances was discovered.
The inspector is currently suspected of illegal storage and transportation for the purpose of sale of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances under Part 2 of Article 307 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. He has been placed in custody as a preventive measure.
The sanction of the article provides for a penalty of up to 10 years of imprisonment with confiscation of property. The State Bureau of Investigation and the Security Service of Ukraine continue to investigate other possible channels of drug supply to correctional institutions.
