The inspector of Lviv customs is accused of violations for 6.8 million hryvnias

The National Agency for the Prevention of Corruption (NAPC) has completed the verification of the declaration for 2022, submitted by the inspector of the department for combating smuggling and customs violations of the Lviv Customs, Pyotr Zelenchuk. According to the results of the inspection, numerous violations were revealed, the total amount of which is 6.8 million hryvnias .

In the declaration for 2022, Petro Zelenchuk indicated that he owns monetary assets: 80,000. USD and 1.8 million hryvnias in cash. At the same time, the official income of the customs officer for the entire period from 1998 to 2022 was only 884 thousand. hryvnias, excluding taxes and living expenses.

His wife, Iryna Zelenchuk, also declared savings in the amount of 30 thousand. USD and 700 thousand hryvnias, explaining that these funds were accumulated before working in the public service. However, according to NAZK, its total income from 1998 to 2022 was only 221 thousand. UAH In the declaration for 2021, no savings of the Zelenchuk family were indicated.

The inspection also revealed discrepancies regarding the vehicles. In 2022, Petro Zelenchuk bought three cars for a total of 1.2 million hryvnias, sold two cars for 1.3 million hryvnias, but declared only part of the proceeds from the sale.

The customs officer declared a Toyota Avalon car (2018) worth 1.2 million hryvnias. However, the official registers state that its value is only 458,000. UAH Zelenchuk explained that the car was damaged and its value increased after repairs, but he did not provide supporting documents.

The declaration also shows three cars that were sold in 2022, but the income from the sale of two of them was not declared. As for the third car, the customs officer incorrectly entered the buyer's data.

Petro Zelenchuk did not indicate in the declaration the land plot and residential building (195.4 square meters) in Bryukhovychy, where he lives with his family. Although he stated that he is the owner of the plot of land (0.87 hectares) since 2017, the NAZK established that this land is in his long-term use under lease rights for a period of 20 years.

Based on the results of the inspection, the NAZC concluded that Petro Zelenchuk provided inaccurate information regarding savings, real estate, and vehicles in the declaration. The total amount of discrepancies is 6.8 million hryvnias.

In the actions of the customs officer, signs of the crime provided for in part 2 of Article 366-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (declaration of false information) can be seen. The materials of the NAZK inspection have been handed over to law enforcement agencies.
