The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine has denied rumors about a possible lowering of the mobilization age. Instead, the military department is focused on implementing motivational contracts for young people aged 18-25. This initiative may become a new approach to attracting citizens to the service, ensuring a balance between military duty and social guarantees.
According to information received by OBOZ.UA from a source in the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, under the new contract, young people will serve in combat brigades for one year. During this time, they will undergo training and full military training.
“They sign a contract, serve for a year, and then get fired. After that, they will be eligible for a deferment until they are 25 years old,” the source said.
The contract provides not only for payments, but also for a special social package. For the age group 18-25, this package will be significantly expanded to motivate young people to join the service.
Legislative changes are necessary to implement the initiative. The General Staff notes that the relevant proposals have already been developed and submitted to the Ministry of Defense for consideration. The preliminary approval of the initiative by the Ministry of Defense gives reason to hope for its rapid implementation.
“We have developed proposals, we are now working on their implementation. This is a new approach that will help attract young people to service without coercion,” a source in the General Staff noted.
Military experts note that involving young people through incentive contracts can be an effective alternative to traditional mobilization methods. This will avoid social tension and create conditions under which military service becomes an opportunity for personal development, not just an obligation.
