Interpol announced an international wanted list of ex-SBU general Andrii Naumov

Interpol has declared Andrii Naumov, the former head of the Main Department of Internal Security of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), on international wanted list. This happened at the request of the State Bureau of Investigation (SBI). However, despite this, the SBI presents this event as an important victory, although Naumov has been wanted for more than two years.

As noted, on August 26, 2024, a red alert was published in the records of the General Secretariat of Interpol.

"Among other things, the SBI suspects the former official of fraudulently taking over UAH 3.2 million during his tenure as the head of a state-owned enterprise during 2019-2021," the report says.

The ex-SBU general was detained on June 7, 2022 while trying to get from Serbia to North Macedonia in a vehicle that contained €592,000, $120,000 and two precious stones.

The investigation is ongoing.

The SBI does not name the former general, but the published photo (ABOVE) and the details of the case indicate that it is Andriy Naumov.

The case of Naumov

In January 2024, Andrii Naumov, the former general and ex-head of the Main Directorate of Internal Security of the SBU, who was sentenced to a year in prison for money laundering in Serbia, was released.

The court clarified that Naumov was released from the Serbian prison at the beginning of December 2023. However, due to the consideration of the appeal against the sentence, his documents were confiscated and he was forbidden to leave the territory of the country.

In Ukraine, there are two criminal proceedings against Naumov. One concerns the simultaneous receipt of a salary at the SBU and at the state-owned enterprise at which Naumov worked before joining the special services. The other is during the period when he managed the "Center for Organizational, Technical and Information Management of the Exclusion Zone". According to the investigation, Naumov concluded a notoriously unprofitable contract with a fictitious company and unjustifiably charged himself bonuses.

From the summer of 2019 to the summer of 2021, Naumov headed the Main Department of Internal Security of the SBU under the leadership of Ivan Bakanov. In October 2020, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy awarded Naumov the military rank of brigadier general, however, at the beginning of the full-scale invasion, he stripped him of it, calling the SBU whistleblower a "traitor."

Naumov left Ukraine on the eve of the Russian invasion, and in the summer of 2022 he was detained in Serbia with undeclared cash - about 600,000 euros and $120,000. There, a case was opened against him and he was sent to a detention center.
